Christianity in a nutshell

Christ died for sins once for all, to bring you to God.

We believe that Jesus is the Messiah God promised to send. He is the Son of God, and God showed his love for people throughout the world by sending Jesus to die on the cross to pay the price we owed for our rebellion and sin.

Through faith in Jesus we find salvation, redemption, peace with God and a new life in relationship with him. We believe in a trinitarian God (one God in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit) who made the universe, made a way for sinful human beings to know him and be close to him, and who helps his people to live the life he wants for them. He has revealed himself by His Word, and His Holy Spirit continues to speak to his people by His Word today.

Since God has revealed himself in the pages of the Bible, we seek to make reading and learning from the Bible central when we meet together.

Because we believe the news about Jesus is such good news, we want to tell people everywhere and help people have faith in Jesus themselves.

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
— Jesus, John 10:10

There's more...

Of course there's much more to the Christian faith than can be explained in a brief summary like the one above. If you want to know more about the Christian faith we'd love to speak to you, please get in touch! If you'd like to do some more of your own research first, why not check out Christianity Explored.

If you'd like to dive in to the nitty-gritty, we as a congregation — together with our denomination, the Free Church of Scotland — subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith. You don't have to agree with it all to be a member of the church (though you do to be an elder or a deacon), but this is what you should expect to hear taught on Sundays and whenever else we get together.

You can read the Westminster Confession, along with some other related documents, on the Free Church website.

Of course we'd also be delighted to answer your questions in person, do get in touch, or come along on a Sunday — details are here.
