Church Services

We gather together to worship God on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am and in the evenings at 5:30 pm. Everyone is very welcome, do please come along any time.

Our services typically last around one hour.

We meet at the Morton Hall, which is number 123 Main Street, Newmilns. The postcode is KA16 9HB. It's not a traditional church building, but it should be easy to spot from the big banners outside. There's generally parking available on the road.

If you’re feeling cautious, flexible seating means its easy to have a bit more distance if that helps you to be comfortable. Alternatively, we provide a livestream of the service at www.facebook.com/covenantnewmilns. You can also watch later there, and audio versions of the sermons are on our sermons page.

Below you can find a bit of an idea of what to expect:

The Bible

Because we believe the Bible is God's word, by which he continues to speak to us today, it has a central place in our services. It will be read aloud, and there will be a sermon lasting around 25 minutes which helps us understand and apply what God is saying to us.

Praising God

We believe God deserves to be worshipped with all that we do throughout our lives, but it's also a particular focus when we gather together. We sing a mixture of Psalms, traditional hymns and more modern songs of worship, accompanied by a small band.

Prayer

God invites his people to come to him in prayer for all kinds of reasons. When we meet together on Sundays we'll spend time in prayer for one another and for our world. These prayers will be led from the front.

Accessibility

We want our services to be welcoming and accessible to all.

There is now a lift provided at the main entrance to make the hall accessible for all; once you get inside everything's on one level and there is an accessible toilet available.

If you have any particular concerns do please get in touch, we'll try to be as accommodating as we can.

Collection

It doesn't cost anything to come to our services (or most other events), and we don't pass a plate around during the service either.

If you do want to give to the work of the God's church in Newmilns and beyond there's a wooden box near the door, (or you can set up a standing order), but there's no obligation to do so.

Children

We love having children in our services. Most weeks there are babies, toddlers, primary school kids and teenagers at secondary school, all worshipping together with adults of every age and stage.

In the mornings we start the service all together, including a particular time when the children will be invited to come to the front. After the second song, children age 0–P7 are welcome to go out to teaching groups, or they can stay in with you if you prefer. The groups are run by our team of volunteers, who are of course all PVG-checked.

In the evenings we don't have specific groups for children, but they're still very welcome at the service. Do feel free to bring a colouring book or whatever will help give them something to do if they're not quite ready to just sit and listen.
